Overview: As a Golf Course Irrigation Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the irrigation systems to maintain optimal playing conditions on two 18-hole golf courses and club house grounds. Monitor water usage and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of the irrigation system and course conditions to identify issues such as dry spots, overwatering, leaks, or equipment malfunctions. Take corrective action as needed to maintain course playability and aesthetics. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of irrigation system maintenance, repairs, water usage, and related activities. Generate reports as needed to track performance metrics and compliance with water regulations. Communication: Collaborate with golf course management, superintendents, and other staff to coordinate irrigation activities with course maintenance schedules, special events, and other operational priorities. The IT is a critical member of the maintenance team and overall operation of the courses. IT reports to the Director of Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance, the GCS, and the Assistant GCS. The property includes: 36 holes of golf, 2 front entrances, pro shops, driving ranges, short-term villa rentals, and the Palmetto Traverse Putting Course. While the primary responsibility is irrigation, the IT will also be involved regularly with day-to-day operations as well as taking part in, and leading, special projects. A positive attitude and willingness to think, prioritize, and work through challenges is critical. A basic knowledge of electricity and hydraulics related to irrigation systems is required. Working safely and anticipating challenges/opportunities is necessary! The IT monitors irrigation systems daily and checks, and repairs, all aspects of the irrigation system from small landscape heads to large turf heads and pipe sized from 1/2" to 10". Operates and monitors pumps from 100 HP to 1/2 HP. Daily, weekly, monthly, and annual records of work performed, water in/out, precipitation received, parts ordered/inventoried/used. Dealing with pollen in the spring to dust in the fall, pesticide applications, gasoline, and diesel, etc. We are maintaining turf, trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals outdoors! 11) Good vision (close, far, color, peripheral and depth) and good hearing is important (plus the ability to tolerate moderate to loud noises). 11) Ability to play golf or a willingness to learn about the game.
