College educated in Turfgrass Management or related field. Must have or obtain a Massachusetts Pesticide license in 60 days. Company will pay fees associated with taking and obtaining license.
1-2 years as 2nd Assistant / Assistant-in-Training/ Intern.
The candidate will work closely with the Superintendent and the turf management team on all aspects of golf course maintenance. The position will consist of fertilizer and pesticide applications, calibration, and training. Other duties will include course set-up, water management, irrigation and drainage projects and troubleshooting assignments on occasion. Candidates with extensive spraying and irrigation experience a positive. The position requires a strong work ethic, commitment, honesty, and a positive attitude. Candidate needs a willingness to put in long hours as needed (average 50 to 60 hours per week). Typically we rotate the staff to allow for Friday afternoons and every other weekend off.
Concord Country Club is a 115 year old private club, featuring a Donald Ross designed 18 hole golf course, 8 tennis courts, pool facilities and a clubhouse for members and guests. Concord was the host of the 2014 WGAM State Amateur and the 2015 NEPGA Championship. The club will be hosting the 2018 Ouimet tournament, 2020 New England Amateur Championship and the 2022 Massachusetts Amateur Championship. The department is located in a 20,000 sq. ft. ground and environmental management center built in 2012. Housing is available on site in the facility. The golf course also is undertaking course restoration work this spring and into the fall of 2017 including: green expansions, tee construction, extensive drainage and irrigation installation. A new irrigation system is planned for installation in the summer/fall of 2020.
