Educational Requirements:
Applicant must possess a 2 or 4 year turf-related degree.
Experience Requirements:
Must have 2-4 years of experience working on a golf course. Applicants must have successfully completed 2 internships.
Special Requirements:
Round Hill Club is looking for applicants with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Someone who is motivated and focused on building a strong skill set to further their career in the turf management industry. The Second Assistant will be relied upon to/for effectively run small crews, manage and maintain a state of the art Rainbird irrigation system, supervise chemical applications, course set up for tournament and weekend play, hand watering that coincides with championship playing conditions, and in house project management. The applicant must obtain a CT Pesticide License.
This is an entry level management position with the emphasis on growth and development in the golf course industry. The individual will work closely with the Superintendent and the Assistants to meet the expectations of a demanding membership. This position will provide the right individual with the fundamental tools and understanding required to be a First Assistant. The Second Assistant will have the opportunity to experience all aspects of golf course maintenance and management practices. The applicant will also have the opportunity to experience the course after a complete green surround and bunker restoration. A project that was finished in November 2016 which also set forth a master plan involving continued fairway expansion and tree removal in an effort return the golf course closer to the original design intentions of Walter Travis when the course was built in 1924.
