Currently enrolled in a Turfgrass Management Program
Experience is beneficial but not required. Applicants will be trained in most aspects of summer golf course maintenance.
Interns will be accountable for their work and are expected to maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Responsibility will include: safe and proper chemical calibration and applications, hand watering techniques that coincide with championship playing conditions, irrigation repair and maintenance, course set up for tournament and weekend play, and the completion of various in house projects. Our goal is to ensure that interns have an educational and successful internship if they have the desire and drive to do so.
Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with the Superintendent and the Assistants in all daily maintenance operations. Our staff possesses a diverse knowledge as it pertains to golf course maintenance and many projects will be executed in-house. This internship will provide the applicant the opportunity to build a strong skill set to further their career in the turf management industry. The applicant will have the opportunity to be involved in a complete bunker and green surround renovation that began in August of 2016. The overall goal is to return the golf course closer to the original design intentions of Walter Travis when the course was built in 1924.
