Educational Requirements:
2 or 4 year college degree in Agronomy, Turf Management or related field preferred.
Experience Requirements:
*3 years of related equivalent experience in golf course maintenance required.
*2 years experience as an Assistant Superintendent preferred.
*2-3 years experience managing direct reports, preferably in the golf industry.
Special Requirements:
*Maintain the appearance and safety of the course by diagnosing and treating agronomic issues. Supervise irrigation scheduling and repairs. *Maintain a wide variety of turf grasses in extreme climatic conditions.
*Manage course preparations for tournament and daily play.
*Integrate environmental programs specializing in Integrated Pest Management.
*Oversee maintenance of the golf cart fleet. *Coordinate, schedule, and supervise capital improvement projects.
*Manage maintenance operations involved with maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop, golf carts and clubhouse
*Select, train, schedule and evaluate maintenance staff.
*Determine appropriate steps of corrective discipline up to and including termination as necessary.
*Responsible for ensuring maintenance staff performs duties in compliance with highest level of safety standards.
*Develop and execute annual maintenance plan and budget for course.
*Track maintenance expenses including payroll, supplies, fertilizer, chemicals, etc.
*Develop and maintain records and reports, orders parts, supplies, and equipment as needed.
*Resolve technical maintenance problems with the assistance of the General Manager.
*Conduct regular safety meetings.
*Maintain positive relations with members of the community.
*Implement and support club initiatives and programs as requested by management.
*Other duties may be assigned by management.
*Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and management.
*Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
*Proven time management, organization and prioritization skills.
*Member of the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association preferred.
*Relevant licenses for regulatory agencies (Certified pesticide License required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
*Ability to operate all equipment used for golf course maintenance.
*Demonstrate ability to think innovatively and adapt to change.
*Valid driver’s license.
