The golf course management and turf management industries were well represented on the eighth annual list of the most powerful people in golf, published by Golf Inc.
Topping the list is Jack Nicklaus for his work in course design around the world.
Those on the list are judged by Golf Inc. editors based on their ability to influence development of courses and communities, the operation of courses, the equipment used by golfers and the rules and administration of the game.
From the management side of the industry, Troon Golf CEO Dana Garmany and president Hud Hinton of Troon Golf shared the No. 2 position, followed at No. 4 by Eric Affeldt (president and CEO of ClubCorp) and Billy Casper Golf CEO Peter Hill at No. 5. Steve Lesnik and Steve Skinner of KemperSports were No. 9 on the list, and Jim Hinckley, who heads Century Golf Partners/Arnold Palmer Golf Management, came in at No. 11.
Steve Mona, CEO of the World Golf Foundation who previously held the same title for the GCSAA was No. 22 on the list, while his successor at the GCSAA, Mark Woodward, CGCS, was No. 25.
Others from the management industry include Joe Munsch of Eagle Golf (No. 16), Bob Husband of Heritage Golf Group (20) and Paul Major of American Golf (23).
