Hills/Forrest opens third North American design this year
While it has been a slow year for the golf course construction industry for the past several years, it has been a bang-up year for the golf course architectural firm of Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates.
The Toledo, Ohio-based firm recently completed work on Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tenn. The Nashville-area club is the firm’s third North American design to open this year.
The other Hills/Forrest designs to open this year were TPC at Treviso Bay in Naples, Fla., and Paraiso del Mar in Mexico.
Hills/Forrest actually designed only 17 of 18 holes at Westhaven. The par-4 13th hole was designed by Doug Wright, then a student at Lehigh University and a nationwide contest winner to design one hole on the course.
Toro recently expanded its line of stand-on mowers for use in small and large landscaped areas.
The company’s line of GrandStand mowers now includes machines with 36-inch, 40-inch and 60-inch mowing decks to go along with the original 48-inch and 52-inch models.
All models feature Toro’s Turbo Force cutting deck, which is constructed from 7-gauge steel. The mowers also feature twin-lever steering and control. The adjustable speed control limits the top-end speed without restricting the control lever travel, which helps achieve precise cutting control in tight areas. Height of cut also can be controlled from the operator’s platform.
