70feb3de994a2d2b3877327fc20fbde1-.jpgIn this episode of The Ladder, host Peter McCormick chats with John Taylor, property manager and golf course superintendent at Grand Niagara Golf Club in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Taylor recently enacted a schedule change that enables them to provide better course conditioning on the premium-priced weekend days while giving each of the full-time staff members at Grand Niagara two consecutive days off every week.

They also discuss the annual Golf Course Hockey Challenge event, the brainchild of Taylor and Scott Dodson, CGCS, of the Park Country Club of Buffalo.  The tournament, for superintendents, assistants and suppliers, has been held in the Niagara Falls area each January for the past 22 years, and has grown to include 16 teams. TurfNet has fielded a team there for the past 18 years.

The Ladder is presented by Penn State World Campus.

John,

Thanks for sharing and congratulations on the William Sanson D S A. I also want to thank you for your work on running the G C Hockey Challenge, it's a great time. I had the opportunity to play for Coach McCormick and TurfNet on their 1st trip and a few more until me knees gave out.

I'm impressed by your schedule and wouldn't mind trying it here. The only issue is my members don't want to see us on a weekend.

Best regards, Mark
