Irish Open: Day 3
Day 3 started early and finished late. From sun up to sun down. Today was the first split day so I got to mow the putting green, 1, 7, and 8 greens in the morning from 4:30 to 7:30. Then a short meeting before breakfast and we were able to go on our own until 4:45. After yesterday's long day, Pat and I decided to head back to the apartment and take a nap. It was good to catch some sleep before the evening work. We were put on ball mark repair for all 18 greens. That took a while since the Pro-Am was today and most golfers do not know the proper way to fix a ball mark. Wouldn't it be nice if golfers took some time to learn basic skills like raking a bunker or fixing divot. Definitely would make the course look better overall and save time for the grounds staff.
Being at the right place at the right time. When Pat and I got back with Scotty, one of Pat's classmates, we had a few minutes to watch some golf. Just as Scotty was asking where Rory McIlory was, I spotted him right in front of us. Great timing! He had just finished playing the 9th and was taking some time with his fans. We got to see him tee off the 10th and later saw him on the 14th green. Every time Rory was interacting with his fans signing autographs and taking pictures. A class act.
