Irish Open: Day 6

My time at the Irish Open has been fantastic. Today was a typical tournament day. Mowed greens in the morning, but since the golf was a one tee start, as opposed to a two tee start in previous day, we were able to change up the mowing routes a bit. Pat and I were changed from putting green, 1, 7, 8 to putting green, 9, 11,14. A nice route that put us on a different part of the course down in the deerpark section for number 11. Everything ran smoothly and golf kicked off bright and early at 6:30. I asked Simon why this was and he said that it dealt with the tv timing for the world cup. Oh well, at least we would get out earlier at night.

After a short break we arrived back at the course to see golf for an hour. The quality of golf has risen as the best are the last standing. I got to see a few of the leaders play a couple of holes. One of the best places to see golf is behind the 13th green because to the right is the 10th green, 11th hole across from the 10th and the 12th is in the background. Four holes in a short period and 2 are par 3's. I will be staking a seat there tomorrow to see the leaders come through. Great place on the course! A quick night of work from 3:30 to 7 to put the final cuts on the course before morning work. Following the tournament all of the maintenance staff is off on Monday. Be great for them to get a break from work. Not much will be done to the course for the following few days to allow for speedy and safe recovery.

One thing I have been wondering about all week is why are the flag sticks not taken in every night following play? Well today that caused some problems 2 flags were stolen so the flags were taken in. I wonder what other tournaments do?
