About The Country Club of Harrisburg The Country Club of Harrisburg was founded in 1896 and has been serving the Greater Harrisburg area ever since. Position Summary The Assistant Superintendent will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and will assist them with the everyday maintenance of the club grounds and the golf course. This position will help supervise a maintenance staff of 10-16 employees and will also be responsible for performing skilled maintenance tasks as directed by the Superintendent. The CCH grounds staff takes pride in our level of work-life balance, and fully appreciates the level of commitment from the staff members. The candidate chosen can expect to work between 40-55 hours a week during peak season with the off season being usually no more than 40 hours per week. The nature of this job is very weather dependent, and thus these hours can vary. This is a great opportunity for an experienced candidate who has prior supervisory experience in the golf industry. Position Responsibilities Schedule and assign work tasks for grounds crew members, supervise employees to ensure quality work is being performed. Attract prospective employees by managing job postings, conduct initial interviews, and assist in the final hiring process. Train grounds staff on the operation of equipment while keeping safety at the forefront of any maintenance operations. Assist the Superintendent in the planning of future improvement projects to be completed both in-house and by outside contractors. Serve as the supervisor in charge when the Superintendent is off property. Managing landscape beds and plantings. Includes mulching, weed control, edging, pruning, and removal/renovation of existing landscape beds. Managing soil moisture levels in fine turf, including the implementation of syringing and hand watering techniques. Mixing and applying pesticides using Toro spray rigs and backpack sprayers.
