HORTICULTURIST [ $23-$26/ HR] Job Summary The Horticulturist will be the direct lead on all Clubhouse landscaping design and maintenance projects. This position will have opportunities to build design skills and make a huge aesthetic impact at two different locations. Day-to-Day Operates powered equipment in mowing golf course and clubhouse operations. Waters and fertilizes and applies pesticides to clubhouse flower and shrubbery. Trims trees, prunes shrubbery, and cultivates shrubs and flowers. Designs and maintains clubhouse grounds, commons woody plant materials and flower beds. Operates and calibrates all spraying equipment needed. Responsible for Maintenance of Clubhouse Potted Plants. Responsible designing new landscaping beds and managing small crews. (RIPA) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that works with the City of New York and local communities to provide an innovative and exciting destination through a wide range of sports venues, public programs, cultural events, and environmental exploration. The Horticulturist will report to the Director of Grounds and the Horticulture Manager and work with members of the Horticulture crew to maintain Randall’s Island Parks’ gardens and green streets with an emphasis on ecological landscape management. It is important to note that Randall’s Island Park is a public park and maintenance practices of the meadows and gardens differ from the ecological practices on a nature preserve/private residence.
