The Country Club of Buffalo was established in 1899 with the current Donald Ross golf course opening in 1926. The club has a storied golf history and has been the host of: 1912 U.S Open, 1931 U.S Women's Amateur Championship, 1950 Curtis Cup, and the 1962 U.S. Girls Junior Championship. The club recently completed a golf course renovation which consisted of rebuilding 114 bunkers and restoring lost fairway and green perimeters. The club consists of an 18-hole private golf course with practice facilities, four tennis courts, two platform tennis courts, pool, and an established shooting program with novice, trap, skeet, five-stand, and brushwalk fields.
The second assistant will be involved in all facets of golf course management including; pest management, record keeping, staff training, water management, irrigation repair, and project management. The candidate will provide supervision, support, and leadership to a staff of over 30 team members and assist the superintendent and other assistants with all daily operations. This is a full-time, year-round position with plenty of overtime available.
Certificate, Associates, or Bachelors degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field is required.
At least one year golf course management experience is required. Water management and pest management experience is preferred. Knowledge of the game of golf is also preferred.
Must have the ability to obtain a NYS pesticide applicator license within 90 days of employment.
