Cherokee is looking for a new family member to fill the role of Assistant Equipment Techician. This individual will need to have a keen attention to detail, a great sense of urgency and amazing problem solving skills. This position is a great opportunity to learn and develop skills to excel in this role and beyond. The right individual will primarily be inspecting, diagnosing, adjusting and repairing mechanical defects and failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment. This person will need to be able to communicate any needs or problems related to maintenance or repairs of equipment with the Equipment Manager and/or Assistant Superintendent. Prioritization will be a key skill needed for this role.
Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
Ability to move heavy objects.
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction.
Mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools.
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and the public.
Maintain a clean, safe, work environment.
Assist in maintaining a clean and well-organized parts inventory room.
Adhering to the proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds and other fluids (antifreeze, oil filters, etc.).
Assisting in an effective, daily inspection of golf course maintenance equipment.
Applicants need to have small engine repair knowledge for 2 cycle and 4 cycle engines; Turf equipment reel adjustment, grinding and repair; Diagnostic knowledge.
Applicant must be well organized, good attitude, keeps a clean work area, communicates well and able to multi task
Applicants must have a valid driver's license.
