Denver Golf strives to provide exceptional golf conditions while managing a high volume of play. The Denver Golf portfolio encompasses eight golf facilities in high demand – hosting as many as 350 rounds per facility per day. From urban golf settings to mountain vistas, you will find it all here. Denver Golf has the largest municipal golf system in the Denver metro area: Four 18-hole regulation courses, one 27-hole regulation course, one 18-hole executive mountain course, two Par 3 courses, two miniature golf courses, six driving ranges including our signature water driving range, multiple practice facilities and more. Plus we have the 2nd largest First Tee Junior Program in the country with The First Tee of Denver, and Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certified. Denver Golf hosted the first ever Grandoozy music festival in 2018 and hope to do so again in 2019. The festival is located at Overland Park golf course where golf staff manages turf during a massive mobilization for set up, concert and recovery. City Park golf course is currently finishing a $45 million-dollar renovation and expect to open fall of 2019.


This position provides an excellent opportunity to experience high volume municipal  golf and learn all aspects of golf course maintenance. Interns will have the opportunity to focus on one location but will be able to work at more locations as their development progresses.  Our program is designed to provide students with a practical, hands-on learning experience in golf course maintenance, project management, and agronomy in a high plains and mountain environment.  . 

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience:

  • Daily management practices (course set up, mowing operations, scouting, etc.)
  • Fertility management (planning, application, calibration)
  • Irrigation management – all facilities use Toro Site Pro (moisture management, troubleshooting, seasonal adjustments, GPS spray systems,)
  • A variety of grow-in and cultural practices.

Educational Requirements

  • Education requirement: Current enrollment in a college program leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Turf Management, Turf Pathology, Agronomy, or a related field
  • Continued enrollment in a college program is condition of employment with the City.
