The equipment manager is a detail oriented position that reports to the Greens Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive maintenance program. This program includes the sharpening of all mower blade, reels and bedknives; preventive maintenance; the repair of failing, broken, or damaged equipment; record keeping of parts and labor needed to maintain and repair each piece of equipment; and ordering of parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs and problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Greens Superintendent. The equipment manager understands how the performance of his/her responsibilities affects the overall quality of the golf course on a daily basis. The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized service area and maintenance building.
High School Diploma/or equivalent
Additional training, such as a trade school, is highly desirable.
Candidates with Equipment/Shop Manager, Assistant Equipment/Shop Manager or Equipment Technician experience in the golf course industry a plus.
Knowledge of bedknife/reel setup, repair, and maintenance.
Experience in gas, diesel, and small engine troubleshooting and repair including 2 cycle engines.
Strong knowledge of all aspects of light/heavy maintenance equipment including hydraulic and electrical systems.
Ability to keep detailed records pertaining to equipment use, maintenance and repairs.
Ability to develop a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment to minimize breakdowns in the field.
Ability to manage a budget with regards to equipment maintenance and repairs.
Valid Driver's License
Ability to lift and move heavy objects
Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in a variety weather conditions on the golf course.
Own proper tools needed to perform daily maintenance/repairs on all equipment.
Ability to proactively diagnose mechanical issues, determine an effective solution, and communicate appropriate measures to fix the problem with the Golf Course Superintendent.
Knowledge of the game of golf and how proper equipment maintenance specifically relates to the high conditioning standards at BHCC.
Willingness to work 6 days per week in season and long shifts as needed for special events.
