The Grounds Services Department at Messiah College has an immediate opening for the full-time position of Grounds Services Manager.
Responsibilities: The Grounds Service Manager performs oversight of all Messiah College grounds operations including the planning and upkeep of landscape, snow and ice removal, management of contract projects, and the supervision of grounds work by staff and contractors.
Qualifications: 5 years of grounds-related supervisory experience is required as well as vocational training in an applicable area; ability to obtain pesticide certification in categories 23, or 6 and 7 within 6 months of employment. Bachelor's degree in Grounds/Horticulture or equivalent years of experience in managing a grounds maintenance operation.
Skills and Characteristics: Excellent customer service skills; ability to interact effectively with employees, students and visitors; ability to demonstrate respect for others, build trust and rapport across teams, and act as a role-model to employees and students; ability to operate all vehicles owned by the college; ability to operate all machinery necessary to perform job functions; Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator's License required.
About: The Grounds Services department is responsible for the care of 475 acres of land. This land is made up of developed and undeveloped land, landscaped areas around buildings, green space, athletic fields, outlying fields and satellite properties.
