It's an exciting time in Golf Maintenance.
The Staff at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club would like to encourage you to apply for our Second assistant position. OWGCC is a private club located on the north shore of Long Island. Designed by William Mitchell in 1961, renovated by Gil Hanse 1998 and Ken Dye in 2002 the course features 27 holes with bent/poa playing surfaces as well as a mixture of push up and USGA greens. We have hosted many local tournaments including the Met Open and US Open qualifiers. The membership is currently working with Rees Jones and his staff to develop a master plan for renovating the course in the upcoming years.
The second assistant will be trained by the Superintendent and first Assistant to perform all aspects of golf maintenance and construction. They will participate in recording pesticide and fertilizer use and will assist in the scheduling of the day to day operation of the golf course . The applicant should have a keen interest in golf and course maintenance, be a self starter with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. This is an opportunity to work at a great golf course with a talented staff.
Turf management degree and or certificate. Must work toward obtaining commercial pesticide applicator designation.
Minimum of one year golf or sports field maintenance.
Must posses a good work ethic with the ability to work cooperative in a large crew.
10 Vacation days, 5 personal days and 8 paid holidays . Health insurance with employee contribution, 401-k after one year of employment. 6 Day work week in season, Dormitory housing.
