Castle Pines Golf Club is an 18 hole, private, Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. Host of The International on the PGA tour from 1986 to 2006, Castle Pines Golf Club had the distinction of being one of two PGA tour events to use a modified Stableford scoring system. The course is situated along the majestic front range of the Rocky Mountains amongst towering ponderosa pines. Castle Pines Golf Club has been consistently ranked in Golf Digests Top 50 US Greatest Golf courses since the late 1980's. Student interns will be exposed to all aspects of golf course management including but not limited to: equipment operation, chemical and dry fertilizer applications, daily golf course set up, reclaimed irrigation management, record keeping, and staff management. As part of the golf maintenance team, student interns will work alongside the Golf Course Superintendent and the Assistant Golf Course Superintendents. The internship will be catered to each individual’s personal and professional goals. Student interns will have the ability to experience the management of a new Toro irrigation system and Watertronics pump station. Pond and creek renovation projects are scheduled for the fall of 2019 into spring of 2020, as well as the building of a new putting course and amphitheater. Along with these projects, students will be able to participate in irrigation installations of HDPE pipe and the management of a newly seeded USGA green. Multiple golf course improvement projects are scheduled in the next few years beyond 2020. Numerous student interns from previous years have gone on to become Crew Leaders at Castle Pines Golf Club with the ambition to move toward an assistants position. Successful interns will have an option to stay on staff longer and live in housing to help establish themselves in Colorado area.
In pursuit of, or recently completed 2-4 degree in Turf Management or Agri-Business.
Any level of experience may apply.
Student interns must possess a positive attitude, a very strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. The individual must be able to fit into a team oriented atmosphere and have a desire to grow personally and professionally.
