Assistant Superintendent

By The Muttontown Club, East Norwich, New York,

Ethan Haveman, 5933 Northern Boulevard, East Norwich, New York, 11732, Telephone: 6055952505

The Muttontown Club is a private, full-service country club located about 25 miles east of New York City. This Alfred Tull-designed course openend in 1962 and features wide fairways that lead to undulating greens; making for a fun, yet challenging test of golf.

The Assistant Superintendent plays a critical role in the success of the Golf Course Maintenance team. He/She should be the kind of person that has a passion for excellence, a positive, willing attitude, and will lead by example within the team. In addition to participating in all long-term project planning and agronomic practices, he/she will work closely and be involved in all aspects of day-to-day course maintenance; including things such as, but not limited to:

  • Staff supervision in regards to training, coaching and working in a team atmosphere
  • Irrigation operation, repair, and scheduling
  • Showing good attention to detail, specifically regarding moisture levels and pest management
  • Chemical/fertilizer planning and application

The selected candidate can expect to maintain a good work/life balance throughout the year. Certainly there are instances when it is "all hands on deck", but we believe that employees are at their best when they are refreshed and not constantly feeling burnt out.

The club is owned and managed by Concert Golf Partners, who provide sustained support which allows the club to consistently enhance member experience in a highly competitive market. Some projects that are currently planned are a driving range renovation, addition of a short-game area, tee construction, greens expansion, and more.
