Assistant Superintendent

A hands-on leader, the Assistant Director of Agronomy will support the Director of Agronomy and Superintendent in day-to-day management of the Club’s Golf Course Maintenance department, ensuring they deliver 5-star service and facilities on a daily basis. He or she will be a hands-on leader who steps in and works with the team as required. A facilitator of club communications, the Assistant Director of Agronomy will maintain an awareness of the status of operations throughout the club, and collaborate effectively with other departments. He or she will serve on the Club’s safety committee and ensure the Club operates according to budget, standards and expectations.

 DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide assistance to Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent with the development of sustainability and technology goals
  • Responsible for planning and implementing sustainability and technology goals and Fertilizer/Chemical program
  • Keep abreast of trends in technology, pest control and sustainability in the Turfgrass industry
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process including capital, operating and labor budgets
  • Implement and oversee quality control, concentrating on providing a highly detailed facility
  • Communicate course conditions and equipment issues to the Superintendent
  • Inspect all components of the golf course to ensure compliance with established maintenance standards
  • Assist the Superintendent with day-to-day maintenance of the golf course
  • Assist Superintendent with coordination, direction and control of crew activities as needed
  • Oversee fertilizer, irrigation and pesticide applications
  • Step in as needed to cover for Superintendent, Foreman or any other position necessary

Educational Requirements

1.      Bachelor’s degree

2.      Must hold a Qualified Applicators Certificate or obtain within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of previous experience required, including as a supervisor
  • Experience in a similar luxury environment preferred
