Caves Valley Golf Club is an 18-hole, private golf only facility located 15 miles northwest of Baltimore, Maryland. The Tom Fazio design has been consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the state of Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. Since its opening in 1991, Caves Valley Golf Club has hosted several events, including the 1995 US Mid Am, the 2002 US Senior Open, and the 2017 Constellation Senior Players Championship. Caves Valley will be the host site of the 2021 BMW Championship. The golf course consists of Pure Distinction bentgrass greens, Penncross bentgrass tees and fairways with a Tall Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Ryegrass mixture for rough.

Caves Valley Golf Club is looking for highly motivated, team-oriented individuals with a goal of advancing in the turf industry. Individuals will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent in developing their skill set in an array of management tasks necessary to provide the championship conditions Caves Valley seeks.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily Task Scheduling
  • Course Set Up
  • Plant Protectant/Fertilizer Calibration and Application
  • Irrigation Scheduling
  • Irrigation Repair and Troubleshooting
  • New Irrigation Installation
  • Greens Moisture Management
  • Golf Course Construction including Bunkers, Tees, Approaches, Intermediates
  • Tournament Preparation 2021 BMW Championship

 The position will provide opportunities to lead and motivate staff to complete tasks in a timely manner, as well as lead and execute an assortment of large projects. Caves Valley is currently in the process of renovating Tees, Bunkers, Approaches, and intermediate roughs. AIT’s will also have an opportunity to be a part of a state-of-the-art irrigation system that will begin installation in the fall of 2020. Individuals will have the option for paid tournament volunteer experience to help diversify their network and skill sets.

Educational Requirements

Currently enrolled or graduated from a two or four-year Turfgrass Management degree, certificate program, or related field.

Experience Requirements

Prior golf course or sports turf experience preferred.
