Established in 2004, The Alotian Club, ranked as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses” in Golf Digest is located in the heart of Arkansas, just west of Little Rock. Founded by Warren Stephens, son of former Masters Chairman, Jack Stephens and designed by one of the nation’s top golf course architects, Tom Fazio. The private 18-hole course is located within 1500 acres of rolling hills and is unique in that it has Bentgrass and Bermudagrass greens as well as Zoysiagrass tees, fairways and rough. The Alotian Club was the host site of the 2013 Western Amateur and the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup.
Known not just for the amazing views over Lake Maumelle, but for consistently providing some of the best amenities and playing conditions to be found around the world. The club facilities include a championship golf course, 7-acre practice range and 3-acre short game area consisting of both Bentgrass and Bermudagrass chipping greens. We just completed renovating our golf course maintenance facility to include a new administrative building, equipment repair shop, and chemical storage/mixing building.
To support golf course management staff in day to day operations by primarily focusing on ensuring daily operational objectives are met. AIT’s are also responsible for continuous improvements to the member experience, balancing risk vs. reward ideology, timely and logical decisions, and maintaining the utmost confidentiality of Club business.
Essential Functions of the Job
Performs general facility and crew checks prior to morning start and after evening out time.
Performs fertilizer and pesticide applications, manages inventory, monitors/orders product under direction of management and stocks PPE inventories.
Implements departmental training programs, such as job task training, equipment operation, and updating job task training sheets.
Maintains accurate weather records and assists in soil/sand testing records under the direction and guidance of management. Performs and monitors all course traffic and signage for turf stress and safety. Communicates any necessary adjustments as appropriate
Performs scouts in areas of responsibility and provides schedule input and maps to management, while also making suggestions to staff members under their direction and helping with their training and development.
Performs general open-up and lock-up of facility according to schedule when supporting assistants.
Provides labor and coordinates the completion of maintenance operations, projects and activities, while contributing knowledge and experiences in general course maintenance, equipment operation/maintenance, and construction.
Leads group projects and assists/supports management with crew morale building by providing performance updates, constructive coaching and counseling, and by promoting cooperation and teamwork.
Assist with Irrigation and Systems repair, maintenance, monitoring and construction.
Maintain a clean work space.
Provides Assistants with supervisory support of Golf Course personnel.
High school degree or equivalent required.
Minimum two-year certificate from an accredited Turfgrass management program.
Minimum of 3 years as an equipment operator, or minimum two (2) years of a successful internship at high-end golf facilities with strong references/recommendations
Knowledge of Turfgrass management, irrigation construction repair and maintenance, and landscaping (preferred)
Effective communication skills
Working knowledge of computer operation and software proficiency
High attention to detail
Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program
Must hold a current commercial pesticides license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
