The Byron Forest Preserve District and Prairie View Golf Club is accepting applications for the position of Equipment Manager/Assistant Superintendent. The first priority will be Equipment Manager, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical defects and failures in various golf course maintenance equipment. Second priority will be Assistant Superintendent, this includes general mowing, course set up, and occasionally applying pesticides. This position will be a partnership with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure the golf course is maintained to a high standard our golfers expect.
Job duties are as follows:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects and failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, gasoline and electric powered golf maintenance equipment.
Instruct and/or train golf course maintenance employees regarding preventative maintenance and the proper cleaning of and operation of equipment.
Maintain a preventative maintenance program on all equipment and keeps an accurate set of records for equipment repairs and maintenance.
Parts ordering and budget management.
Participates in all maintenance work.
Assists in the safe and proper application of pesticides and fertilizers.
Makes recommendations for the assignment of and termination of employment of all personnel encompassed within his area of operations.
Assists in establishing department policies and procedures.
Assists in the development and submitting of the department budget, and exercises budgetary control over adopted budget.
Supports the superintendent in evaluating the performance of assigned personnel, and plans and provides in-service training experiences as required.
Must be willing to work every other weekend, managing the crew and ensuring the golf course is set up for the day’s golfers.
Adheres to all risk management rules and regulations issued by the district. Constantly monitors work areas for unsafe conditions, corrects them, and reports them to the Superintendent.
Performs all other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Golf Superintendent and Executive Director.
High School Diploma
Experience as a golf course mechanic will be a strong consideration
