Equipment/Shop Manager

The equipment manager is responsible for the maintenance and repair of turf and landscape equipment as well as overseeing a detailed preventive maintenance program.  This position reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.  Looking for a knowledgeable and experienced team player who wants to be part of a energetic group.  Highlands CC is a 18 hole private golf club with Bentgrass/Poa annua tees, greens and fairways.  The golf course was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1928.  It was the summer home of Bobby Jones and steeped in history and tradition.  Located in the mountains of Western NC, Highlands CC is open from April through November.  The successful candidate will have responsibility of the entire fleet of Toro brand maintenance vehicles and mowers.  In additional, the Equipment Tech (ET) will be responsible for detailed record keeping and shop safety.  It will be up to ET to maintain an adequate inventory of parts to facilitate the overall maintenance of HCC.  The equipment tech communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent.  The ET will need to improve the preventative maintenance plan currently in place.  Cutting units are checked daily.

Educational Requirements

Any formal education is viewed as a positive but not required.  Solid on the job training and experience is a must.

Experience Requirements

Past experience as a head equipment technician is desired but we will also consider candidates with extensive past experience in the assistant technician role. 

Special Requirements

The successful candidate will have a good attitude and will be someone willing to work as a team!  Excellent organizational skills and housekeeping required.  We want someone who prides themselves on details and sees the big picture of our operation.  I'm looking for someone to not only maintain equipment, but someone who wants to take pride and ownership in the whole maintenance facility.  Safety will always be our #1 priority and it's critical to understand OSHA guidelines in this position.  Detailed Record keeping is also required.
