Oakland Hills Country Club is a Donald Ross designed 36-hole, private club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan established in 1916. The South Course is consistently ranked in the top 25 in Golf Digest and has hosted 17 major championships including the 2004 Ryder Cup and 6 U.S. Opens. Oakland Hills recently contracted Gil Hanse to restore the famed South Course to Donald Ross’ original masterpiece. The restoration started in March 2020 and included USGA spec greens with PrecisionAire vaulted units, a complete reseed of all short grass playing surfaces with new bentgrass varieties, new bunkers with Better Billy Bunker liner, new irrigation system and pump house, and 23 miles of new drainage. The project wrapped up last year and the course opened in the summer of 2021 to rave reviews from the membership and the golf world. Recently, Oakland Hills jumped 41 spots in World Rankings by GOLF.com debuting the restored South Course at No. 31.
Certificate, 2 or 4 year degree in related field
One to three years’ experience working on a golf course. We are currently looking for individuals that are self- motivated and ready to do what it takes to be successful in a very competitive industry. Experience in fertilizer/pesticide application and calibration, irrigation repairs, hand watering, course set up, and managing small groups a plus but not a must. We are looking to train the right individuals to fit into this very important role on our staff. The ideal candidate will be a person that is extremely driven in their career and willing to put in the necessary hours to be successful.
We promote a team atmosphere at Oakland Hills and it is our goal to train our assistants to the highest level and make sure they have the skill set to achieve all of their goals in the golf industry. We are looking for multiple individuals to fill critical rolls in our organization. Our goal for every Assistant-in-training/2nd Assistant is to have them move into a 1st Assistant position at our organization in a short amount of time.
