Spray/Applications Technician

Selects, mixes, and applies or participates in the selection, mixing, and application of various herbicides, compost tea and fertilizers for areas such as turf, fence lines,  planter and shrub beds, access roads, parks, landscaping on median strips, and public jurisdiction rights-of-way; uses respirators and appropriate protective gear in the application of pesticides as required by the Colorado Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Agriculture and other regulatory agencies; develops vegetation control spray programs and schedules for a maintenance area or region and participates in the management of such programs; maintains spray equipment including preventive maintenance and minor repair; oversees compliance with label requirements; keeps records, prepares and maintains reports regarding control and use of herbicides and fertilizers; responsible for the safe storage and use in conformance with regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency and State Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures; provides safety training to applicators and others associated with applications; provides technical direction in the safe and effective application of restricted and non-restricted fertilizers and herbicides to a small crew of Grounds Maintenance Workers, and Laborers or other workers performing  spraying activities; drives and operates vehicles such as, but not limited to, small to large pickup trucks, crew cab trucks, and vehicles with motorized spray equipment to various jobsite locations; cleans facilities or sites after performing work assignments; and documents work hours or activities.

OPTION I: One year of paid, full-time work experience in the preparation and application of pesticides using high pressure, power driven spray equipment - AND - A current and valid Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) issued by the State of Colorado,  with categories: A - Residential, Industrial, and Institutional, B - Landscape Maintenance, and C - Right-of-Way.

OPTION II: Two years of paid, full-time work experience in grounds maintenance and care work assisting in the preparation and application of pesticides using high pressure, power driven spray equipment - AND - A current and valid Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) issued by the State of Colorado,  with categories: A - Residential, Industrial, and Institutional, B - Landscape Maintenance, and C - Right-of-Way.

LICENSE:
A valid Colorado Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL Labor – Arduous: Involves frequent heavy lifting over 50 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working on irregular surfaces; and occasionally requires extraordinary physical activity.



DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful completion of classes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Landscape Irrigation and/or Plant Science from an accredited college or university.
• Possession of a current and valid Agricultural Pest Control Advisor License, QAC issued by State of Colorado with categories A and B
• Possess a valid Driver's License with Class C
