Assistant Superintendent

Baton Rouge Country Club was built in 1916 and is a private, member owned club in the heart of Baton Rouge, LA. It has had several designers but the most recent renovation was by Rees Jones in 2007. This property consists of an 18 hole golf course, with two practice greens and a driving range. Grass varieties include MiniVerde greens, Tifway 419 tees, fairways and rough, along with a couple tees and greenside bunker surrounds being Zeon Zoysia. The crew is consistently around 25-27 year round, including three managers, and two mechanics. The club just completed a major turf drainage project on all 18 holes and installed new cart paths. 

-Assistants will be involved in all aspects of golf course management.

 -This includes crew and project management, spraying and calibration, irrigation repair, equipment operation, budgeting, etc.

-Will work with the other Assistant, Superintendent, and Director on a daily basis.

-Involvement in greens committee meetings and any other meetings that may occur throughout the year.

-Also will be heavily involved in tournament set up and conditioning.

-An emphasis will be placed on planning, organizing and coordinating all work on a daily basis.

-Will also have the ability to work in the shop with the Equipment Manager and Assistant Mechanic.

Educational Requirements

2 or 4 year degree in Turf Management or related field.

Experience Requirements

Extensive turf management experience preferred. However, we will consider recent graduates that have completed successful internships.

Special Requirements

Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, this position will be responsible for implementing, enhancing, and directing the overall program in the following areas.

-Personnel Management

-Chemical applications and calibrations

-Irrigation Management and monitoring

-Project planning

-General cultural and agronomic practices


-Attention to detail
