Grounds Staff


Cherry Hills Country Club was built in 1922 by William Flynn and has a long history of holding major tournaments including three U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, a U.S. Women's Open, U.S Senior Open, U.S. Senior Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur, two U.S. Amateurs, and most recently, the 2014 BMW Championship.  We have also been awarded with the 2023 USGA Amateur Championship.  Cherry Hills CC is consistently rated in the Top 100 courses in the US.  We are currently undergoing a $55 million club house renovation and are beginning a $2 million golf course restoration on November 1st, 2021.  In the 2022 season, we will also begin preparations for the 2023 U.S. Amateur.  The course consists of poa/bent push-up greens with fairways, tees, and rough that are poa/rye/blue.

 

Our goal is to provide you with the experience necessary to take the next steps in your turfgrass career.  The expectations of the club and our membership are extremely high.  We will provide you with all the necessary skills needed to advance in this industry.  You will gain experience in ALL aspects of golf course management: all mowing operations, pesticide applications, irrigation management, small crew management, etc.  We hope to groom a well-rounded individual to help them further their career.

Educational Requirements

In pursuit of, or recently completed certificate or 2-4-year degree in Turf Management or related field.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be willing to work long hours, have a good attitude, be dependable, and be willing to do whatever is asked to meet our expectation levels. Interns are responsible for all of the spray applications throughout the course of the season along with becoming familiar with the operation of all equipment that the club has on hand. They will also be involved with any projects including sod, irrigation, and renovation if this type of work is going on at the time.
