The Spray Tech is responsible for supporting the First Assistant and Superintendent. This position will be provided the proper training to apply chemical and fertilizer applications.The Spray Tech is expected to take a lead role in the Grounds Department and step in to make decisions when other superintendents are unavailable. Great entry level job for new graduates and turf managers working their way up in the industry.
Ability to perform all basic golf course maintenance tasks.
Chemical application record keeping
Communicate and assist First Assistant Superintendent with daily responsibilities
Monthly sprayer and spreader calibration
Irrigation repair, trouble shooting and adjustments
Train and develop new and experienced staff
Ability to accurately calibrate chemical application equipment.(Sprayers and Spreaders)
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, supervisors and members
1-3 years golf course experience with progressing responsibilities
Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and irrigation technologies
Leadership skills are highly important in this role
Mathematical ability to accurately calculate proper rate for chemical applications.
Pesticide Applicators License or Ability to obtain applicators license within 90 days of hire date
Small crew (3-5 persons) supervision experience
High School Diploma. The desire to obtain a Certificate or Degree in Turfgrass Management or related fields preferred
Cool Season turf management is helpful but not required. Experience with basic practices of course management. Candidates with a positive attitude and desire to learn and become leaders will thrive in this environment.
