The Irrigation Technician, under the supervision of the Senior Assistant Superintendent, is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the University of Louisville Golf Club irrigation system(s). The irrigation technician is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the Senior Assistant Superintendent.
Responsible for programming, operation and maintenance of irrigation system for golf course
Waters greens, tees and fairways
Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water
Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed
Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies
Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod, and seeds greens, tees and fairways
Monitors water levels and testing
Coordinates pump servicing
Ability to work nights and weekends, holidays, or winter breaks in a variety of weather conditions will be essential to the job responsibilities
Other duties as assigned by the Senior Assistant Superintendent
High school diploma and two years of related experience. Must have valid driver's license and be insurable by University's carrier to drive vehicles. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Employment physical will be required. Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf. The university offers market competitive salary and benefits. Pay Grade NC. Wage Minimum $12.54/hr.
