Assistant Superintendent

The Preserve Golf Club is looking for a highly motivated individual to work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to provide championship course conditions to our private membership and guests. Located within a 20,000-acre nature preserve just 2.5 miles inland from the Carmel, CA coast, the Preserve Golf Club is a premier private club.  Santa Ana bermudagrass fairways meet ryegrass roughs and A-4 bentgrass greens to provide exceptional playing surfaces that lead the way in sustainability and the movement towards warm season grasses in the California transition zone.  With recent capital improvements including a complete Practice Facility renovation and an irrigation system renovation which begun early this year and will resume this winter, the Assistant Superintendent will be instrumental in propelling the Preserve Golf Club to the next level.              

• Minimum 3 years of experience working in the golf management industry 
• Excellent communication both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, membership, and colleagues.   
• Be able to perform and train employees on all tasks related to golf course maintenance and safety
• A strong desire and continually working towards advancing in the turf maintenance industry 
• Strong leadership skills with the focus of motivating, developing, and promoting staff
• Basic understanding of the rules of golf
• Through knowledge of pesticide usage and integrated pest management 
• Must possess a California Applicator's Certificate or have the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.   
• Competent with fertilizers, equipment calibration, and applications 
• Willingness to work hands on with staff and do what is needed to get the job done
• Enforce and follow rules, guidelines, and company policies
• Thorough knowledge of irrigation practices, including daily adjustments, repairs, hand watering, and prudent water management.
