Irrigation Technician


-Responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system.

-Report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent.

-Manage the irrigation performance and implement corrective action for overwatering or lack of watering.

-Repair pipe breaks (PVC and Poly), irrigation heads and valves.

-Operate sprinklers manually by clocks and computer.

-Identify and repair electrical problems in irrigation system.

-Conduct continual visual inspections

-Troubleshoot sprinklers, valves and irrigation clocks.

-Assist in irrigation projects.

-Maintains, inventories and orders irrigation parts and supplies.

-Preventative maintenance on all aspects of irrigation system.

-Perform other golf course maintenance tasks.

Experience Requirements

-Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers.

-Working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems, irrigation sprinklers and parts.

-Understanding of agronomy, turf grass science and rules of golf.

-Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds maintenance work.

-Ability to operate various golf course equipment

-Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.

-Minimum 2 years golf course or sports field experience.

-Must be able to work on feet for at least 8 hours per day.

-Must be able to withstand working in extreme temperatures.

-Must be able to work weekends and holidays when needed.

-Must be able to lift up to 80lbs occasionally.

-Valid Driver’s license

-Ability to work well with others

-Neat, organized and clean

$16 to $22 per hour
