Turf Equipment Technician

Full-time

Maintain golf course cutting equipment in optimal condition and have a thorough understanding of safe and proper usage of reel and bedknife grinding equipment.

Proficient in diagnosing and repairing equipment used for golf course operations, to include hydraulics, electrical, gas, two-stroke, and diesel systems

Ensure equipment is repaired and ready for use in a timely manner

Have a thorough understanding of safe and proper usage of hand and power tools

Maintain a safe and clean work station

May perform other maintenance and related duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager

Communicates any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment with the Equipment Manager

Inspects diagnoses, adjusts, and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis.

Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.

Keep up with preventative maintenance schedule, i.e. oil, grease, air, gas, etc.

Inspect and adjust equipment while on the course to ensure a quality cut.

Work closely with the Equipment Manager and crew members on all courses to ensure proper equipment operation.

Educational Requirements

High School diploma, GED or equivalent required

Additional turf or automotive trade school program or college degree preferred but not required

Experience Requirements

1-3 years of experience on turf equipment

1-3 years of experience on small engines and hydraulic systems

reel and bedknife grinding experience is a plus

Strong Attention to Detail

Ability to read and write in English

Ability to lift and move heavy objects, 50 lbs

Reliable transportation

Must possess good organizational and communication skills

Must be committed to learning and a continuous process of improvement

Must have the ability to critically think and make independent decisions based upon sound judgement

Must have a positive attitude and a strong desire to create a positive work environment
