Spray/Applications Technician

Grand Harbor is hiring a Spray Technician to care for our 2 beautiful golf courses! This is a full time position that pays competitively and includes a full benefit package.
The Spray Technician is responsible for properly mixing and applying herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides to golf course and surrounding landscape. The Spray Technician will recognize variables (ie, weather) and will adjust application as necessary.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Appropriately applies all chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers associated with grounds and golf course maintenance.
- Responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with Safety Data Sheets and pesticide labels; responsible for compiling reports of pesticide usage (spray cards).
- Maintains application equipment chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations.
- Perform safe mechanical operation and calibration of application equipment.
- Must be able to safely operate a golf cart.
- Inspect all areas of property to determine pesticide and fertilizer needs.
- Apply pesticides and fertilizers as appropriate to maintain proper condition of golf course and grounds.
- Implement Integrated Pest Management practices.
- Maintain product inventory with appropriate recordkeeping.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- Uses protective equipment as required such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots and hat.
Educational Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Commercial Applicator Restricted Use Pesticide License is required.
- Must complete training requirements as specified by the Department of Agriculture.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with chemicals, turf diseases, Florida grasses and weeds required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Spray Technician on golf courses.
- Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of application equipment.
- Must be a self-starter, eager to learn and take directions.
- Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills. Able to complete tasks with limited supervision.
- Responsible, dependable and punctual.
- Ability to recognize and solve problems quickly.
- Detail oriented and maintain high performance standards.
- Ability to communicate professionally with employees, management and members.
