Assistant Superintendent
Northmoor Country Club, originally a Donald Ross design, is located in Highland Park, Illinois in the golf-rich North Shore of Chicago. A distinguished club established in 1918, Northmoor is one of the premier country clubs in the area. Northmoor boasts 27 holes of golf, practice facility, a strong racquet program, platform tennis, a Junior-Olympic size swimming pool and multiple dining options.
In 2022, the Club underwent major construction on nine of its 27 holes. The goal of the project was to solve flooding issues the property had long endured. After expanding and relocating two large ponds and moving 130,000 cubic yards of dirt, a new nine was routed and built, designed by Tyler Rae. The new nine was built with USGA variable depth greens, new tees, Better Billy Bunkers, pumpstation and pumphouse, and a new Toro 2-wire irrigation system. We are in the final stages of the grow-in and will be wrapping it all up this spring with the intention of opening by mid-June.
With all this in mind, we are looking for someone with a strong personality, skillset and more than anything, a perpetually positive attitude. Risk will be taken, mistakes will be made, and we will all continue to learn and better ourselves. While there is no room for complacency, I do believe in a work-life balance; I have a family of my own. The longer we are there does not translate to better conditions and member enjoyment. I believe in efficiency, effective time management and putting others before yourself. Personal character and leadership qualities will have more of an impact here than tactical abilities. The right candidate should have the overarching goal of one day moving on to their own Superintendent role. I will do whatever I can to help achieve that through my extensive networking system, both locally and nationally. This will be a phenomenal learning and career-advancement opportunity that will translate well to future opportunities. Of the two Assistants I’ve had the good fortune of working with here, both have moved on to enviable roles at unique locations throughout the United States.
