Assistant Superintendent

Lakeside Country Club is currently offering a lead assistant superintendent position. Founded in 1951 as a Private Country Club, Lakeside Country Club is located just outside the Houston city limits and has approximately 1000 members. The golf course is currently undergoing a complete transformation with architect Jay Blasi. With the new design, the rerouting of a new layout and the creation of a new short course, the goal of Lakeside is to be best in class in the Houston area and in the state of Texas. The newly constructed course is set to reopen in late November.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Opportunity for full construction and golf course grow in experience. Opportunities to manage small teams with different construction processes, including:

·       Putting green drainage and greens mix installation

·       Tee drainage and sand cap installation

·       Green surround drainage and sand cap installation

·       2” Fairway seepage drainage installation

·       Bunker construction, including 4” pipe and Bunker Solutions liner installation

·       RainBird 2-wire system installation and operation, including Rain Bird CirrusPRO

·       HDPE pipe installation

·       Soil testing process and management

·       Calibration and management of grow-in fertilizer program for sod, sprigs and putting greens

·       Advanced hand watering and moisture management techniques

 

Other Job Duties include:

·      Maintains a current Pesticide Applicator License through the TDA. Responsible for keeping up with CEU’s and any education requirements mandatory by the TDA.

·       Responsible for pesticide applications and becomes an expert at spray program development. Ability to apply and calibrate products through a GPS sprayer as well as manual systems.

·       Budgetary responsibilities including inventory management and introduction to agronomic planning.

·       Short term and long-term future planning with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance.

·       Assists the Director of Golf Course Maintenance in performing all daily grounds and golf course maintenance activities.

·       Serve in the Director of Golf Course Maintenance’s capacity during his/her absence.

·       Maintains an open line of communication with the golf course director, management and co-workers.

·       Supervises and creates job assignments for Green and Grounds Personnel.

·       Assists in maintaining policy and record keeping for underground fuel storage tanks.

·       Has a working knowledge and ability to run all golf course equipment.

Educational Requirements

2/4-year degree in turfgrass management, agronomy or related field and a minimum of 1 golf course internship.

Experience Requirements

Lakeside Country Club is looking for someone with an interest in a Lead Assistant Superintendent position. The person must be serious about advancing within the industry and eager to gain experience in all facets of golf course maintenance and construction. The Lead Assistant will be comprehensively trained to ensure they are well positioned for upward movement. The Team’s goal is to achieve world-class playing conditions, the candidate’s goal is to learn how to do it, grow within the team, and learn how to market yourself for the next stage of your career.

$70,000 + 5% Bonus Potential

Life Insurance- $30,000 Basic Policy

Short Term and Long Term Disability- Provided for you after one year of employment.

401k Plan- Eligible to participate after one year of employment. The club provides 3% contribution to all eligible employees. Employees are 100% vested as soon as they become eligible. 

Meals- Employee meals are provided.

Golfing privileges, uniforms provided, association dues paid to GCSAA and state/local chapter, regional and national educational/seminar travel expense, relocation assistance.

Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation for the first two years and increase as per Club Policy thereafter. The first year of vacation will be split one week upon hire and one week after completion of six months of employment

Sick Pay: The club shall provide 1 week after one year of service and two weeks per year thereafter.
