Congaree is an 18-hole private golf club located in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Designed by world famous golf course architect, Tom Fazio, Congaree opened in 2018 and quickly garnered the reputation of being one of the Southeast’s best golf clubs. Currently ranked #39 in “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses”, Golf Digest has also recognized Congaree as being the “Best new Course for 2018.” 

The property has Champion Bermuda greens with TifGrand Bermuda tees, fairways, and surrounds that are framed by large expanses of sandy waste areas and wondrous live oaks, pine forests, and lowcountry marshes. Its classic plantation-style architecture provides five-star accommodations, dining, and amenities.

Congaree’s track record of consistently providing elite playing conditions aided the PGA Tour’s decision to use Congaree as the site for two professional events in the past two years.  Most Recently, Congaree hosted the PGA Tour’s 2022 CJ CUP in South Carolina this past October.

The golfing season runs from October through mid-June. During the summer months, the Golf Course Maintenance Team uses the course closure to its advantage and conducts a wide variety of cultural practices, conditioning the course for the next season, and fulfilling the expectations of its owner and ambassadors.  This season we will begin renovating a hole to improve its functionality as well as aesthetics. Along with that several new tees are planned to be constructed throughout the course.

More than just world class conditions and a true test of golf, Congaree’s mission is as unique as the 2,200-acre property. Helping the local community in poverty-stricken areas, Congaree has partnered with programs that assist children and families in need. The Global Golf Initiative was founded at Congaree. Its purpose fulfills the potential of disadvantaged high school students, who have a passion for golf and good academic standing, by providing them with educational, vocational, and golf-instruction aid.

Currently, Congaree is in the process of re-establishing Sergeant Jasper Golf Club, a beloved local 9-hole course, to its former glory. The process will involve the complete reconstruction of greens, bunkers, and tee boxes. A rewarding experience for both the Golf Course Maintenance Team and the local community.

Qualified candidates will work closely, in a team atmosphere, with the Golf Course Superintendent and Senior Assistant to manage the staff of 30 employees.   Duties would include but are not limited to: pesticide and fertilizer applications, equipment calibration, course set up, water management, crew management, record keeping, and scheduling.   This would be an excellent opportunity for individuals wanting to learn what it takes to manage a championship caliber golf course.
