Spray/Applications Technician
Summary
Responsible for the safe application of herbicides and pesticides in a manner utilizing Integrated Pest Management and Best Management Practices, including fertilization, ornamental maintenance, palm tree care, and turf maintenance practices. This is the perfect position for someone looking to gain knowledge and experience in the turfgrass industry and grow at one of the top private country clubs in West Palm Beach, Florida. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop into an Assistant Superintendent and should possess that desire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1) Inspects and treats ornamental beds and turf for weeds.
2) Inspects and treats ornamental plants and turf areas for insects and diseases.
3) Maintains proper inventory of chemical supplies to avoid unnecessary disruption to the schedule. Notifies supervisor when chemical inventory levels are low.
4) Understands product labels to ensure efficient, effective, and proper application rates.
5) Completes and maintains all chemical and fertilizer application logs in an accurate and timely manner.
6) Complies with all federal, local and company safety regulations.
7) Cleans and maintains equipment. Makes suggestions of working conditions and use of equipment to increase work efficiency.

9) Places and monitors mosquito population detection systems as directed.
10) Organizes and maintains cleanliness and safety of chemical storage room.
Educational Requirements
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or one-year minimum related experience in the proper care and use of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of chemical principles and practices including related legal and environmental responsibilities.
· Excellent working knowledge pertaining to the operation of chemical and fertilizer application devices and operating procedures.
· Ability to analyze environmental conditions and execute the appropriate adjustments for proper chemical and fertilizer applications.
· Ability to recognize plant/turf deficiencies, pest infestations, or disease and notify supervisor.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
- Basic MS Office skills required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
· Valid State of Florida driver’s license
· Valid State of Florida Commercial Applicator license or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
· Florida Department of Environmental Protection Best Management Practices, Florida Green Industries Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
Other Skills and Abilities
· Ability to work independently and collectively as a tea.
· Ability to properly use irrigation equipment
· Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and Operational Health and Safety practice
· Good time management and prioritizing skills

- Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish.
