Assistant Equipment Technician
Firefly is seeking a reliable, self-motivated Assistant Equipment Technician to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. This position supports the Equipment Manager in maintaining and repairing all turf equipment used on the property, helping ensure daily operations run safely and efficiently.
The property is located approximately 30 miles south of downtown Nashville and approximately 15 miles south of downtown Franklin, on the east side of I-65 in Maury County. The gated entrance to the community will be on Highway 431, about 5 miles south of the new June Lake exit on I-65.
Firefly will feature a core 18-hole golf course and a 9-hole short course designed by Andrew Green, who has been critically acclaimed for his renovation of classic designs at Scioto, Congressional, Interlachen, Inverness, Oak Hill, and most recently East Lake. This will be Andrew Green’s first original design.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the maintenance, repair, and setup of all golf course maintenance equipment (mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, small engines, etc.)

Perform grinding, sharpening, and adjustment of reels and rotary cutting units

Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic diagnostics

Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces in the maintenance facility

Support the Equipment Manager with equipment records, parts ordering, and inventory

Ensure all equipment is set up properly for daily course conditioning standards

Assist with training operators on proper equipment use and care

Respond to on-course equipment breakdowns as needed
Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Continuing education in golf equipment maintenance preferred
Experience Requirements
Qualifications

Prior mechanical experience required (turf equipment, small engines, automotive, diesel, or related fields)

Ability to safely operate and repair golf course equipment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and follow instructions

Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented mindset

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
Special Requirements
Applicant must have the ability to work weekends
Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be flexible throughout the various phases of course/turf care facility construction
