Assistant Grounds Manager

·         Assisted in the management of a 90 acre resort property and the direction of a 40 person international grounds staff, as well as, working with a resort management staff that included people from all over the world and from different cultures

·         Significantly improved the management of the property’s Empire zoysia, quickly taking the turf from failing to high quality

·         Enhanced the property’s turf and ornamental management by optimizing fertilization frequency and rates, irrigation practices, as well as, the addition of systemic insecticidal and fungicidal products that saved the property significant money in wasted product and labor

·         Traveled to other properties in the Northern Sandals/ Beaches portfolio to inspect and oversee renovation projects

·         Managed the ordering, import processing and receiving of international orders

·         Assisted in the management of 115 acre golf facility and the landscaped grounds of the clubhouse, pool, Tennis Club and marina facilities, as well as, the direction and training of a peak season staff of 19

·         Saved significant dollars for the club in just one season in the labor, chemical and fuel line items by initiating effective and organized management tools and techniques, as well as, utilizing a paradigm-shifting method of bentgrass greens management

·         Managed and Improved on-site greenhouse facility for overwintering temperature sensitive plants and some propagation

·         Designed & supervised the installation and maintenance of color displays throughout the club grounds, pool area and tennis club

·         Fine-tuned Toro’s Sitepro Central Control System that effectively reduced watering times and saved in electrical costs and improved playing conditions

·         Developed and Implemented a digital jobs board, with internet connectivity, that provides greater flexibility in scheduling and crew communication, thus increasing total crew efficiency

·         Aided and principally involved in the agronomic, staffing and budget management of the grow-in of 600 acre, 36 hole golf complex

·         Developed and adhered to $1.1 million annual maintenance budget

·         Hired and trained a 16 person staff that was regarded as one of the best in our company as proven by a little to no turnover rate and a safety record consistently in the top 25% of staffs in our company

·         Proven innovator: Through the principles of deficit watering, I was able to save the company several thousands of dollars in labor by eliminating four crew positions and dramatically improving greens performance.  Also, I was able to save thousands of dollars in labor and materials through the use of fertigation.

·         Designed and administered the installation of the landscaping surrounding the newly constructed clubhouse, including procuring plant materials, the supervising of several subcontractors including irrigation contractor, planting contractor, etc.

·         Aided in the reconstruction of 19 putting greens, including the installation of Subair units

·         Coordinated crew and other resources in hosting 2000 NCAA Men’s Division 1 Championship, as well as, several Men’s and Women’s SEC Championships & NCAA Regional Tournaments

·         Participated in the preparation for the 1997 Nike Tour Championship (the first televised golf event hosted on the RTJGT) and the 1998 LPGA Tournament of Champions

·         Designed and installed several smaller landscape projects such as color displays, etc.
