Hello, I am Travis Miller and am finishing my Master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My degree has been focused on golf course turf research in areas of topdressing and organic matter soil testing. I am looking to get back into a position where I am more hands on and working with golf courses. In addition to my education I have experience as an intern at Whistling Straits and Wade Hampton Golf Club as well as an assistant in training at University Ridge Golf Course. I am based in Madison, WI and would prefer to stay in the Midwest but could move for the right position!
I completed my Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2021 in soil science with a specialization in turfgrass management. I am completing my Master's degree in soil science from the same institution this fall with doing research on organic matter testing and topdressing.
I have experience with research on golf courses to reduce inputs while practicing integrated pest management. I have experience giving presentations about my research to a variety of audiences such as local GCSAA chapters up to international organizations like the SSSA. I have my pesticide certification in the state of Wisconsin.
I have been a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin for the past 2 years. Before that I was an assistant in training at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, WI where I helped in preparation for the PGA American Family Insurance Championship. Additionally I completed a winter internship at Wade Hampton Golf Club in Cashiers, NC working on sand capping fairways as well as reconstruction of a tee complex. My first internship was at Whistling Straits in Haven, WI and I did seasonal work at Northbrook Golf and Country Club in Luxemburg, WI.
