    Inverness Club is looking to add several hard working, career oriented individuals to our grounds staff. We are in the final stages of a full course renovation including 3 new holes, 5 new USGA greens, all new bunkers, greens expansions, tree removal, new tees, new 2 acre irrigation reservoir and a state of the art pump station to prepare for future championships. Inverness Club has been the host to 4 U.S. Opens, 2 PGA Championships, 2 U.S. Senior Opens, and is preparing for the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur and the 2021 Solheim Cup. As an A.I.T. at Inverness Club you will be exposed to all aspects of golf course maintenance and will have the opportunity to learn and grow as a turf professional, amongst our well experienced staff and golf course superintendent John Zimmers.

    Inverness Club Golf Course Turf Team Position History: Located in Toledo, Ohio the prestigious Inverness Club has cemented its place in professional golf history. With a rich history of hosting major tour events including the 1920,1931,1957 and 1979 U.S Opens as well as the 1986, 1993 PGA Championship and 2003 and 2011 U.S Senior Open the Inverness Club is highly dedicated to providing the most elite playing surfaces possible for the best players in the world. The club also has multiple upcoming events including the 2019 U.S Junior Amateur and the 2021 Solheim Cup. Originally designed in 1903 Inverness was purchased on a unique undulated plot of land, in 1916 the club hired Donald Ross to construct a championship caliber golf course. Intern/ Turf Graduate Mission: Working with four-time major host and experienced leader, John Zimmers, Inverness is seeking highly motivated and determined interns and turf graduates. Amidst an immense course renovation all interns and graduates will be exposed to all facets of golf course construction as well as our day to day tasks. Interns are expected to have a positive attitude, be prompt and on time in a professional manner and most importantly eager to learn. Responsibilities: · Perform all mowing tasks on the golf course. Recently the club hired Andrew Green to restore the course to its Donald Ross design. The restoration was completed in 2018. Job Description: The position entails maintaining and repairing all golf course equipment. Our current fleet includes mowers, tractors, sprayers, and utility vehicles from Toro, JD and Jacobsen. The maintenance facility was recently given a face-lift and completely reorganized. The shop area is fully furnished and heated with a hoist, lift, tools, new reel and bed knife grinders. Being in the Top 100 Program, we receive brand new Bernhard grinders every two years insuring we have the best in the business. In addition to the main shop, we have a parts room for controlled inventory and a mechanics office for record-keeping and ordering. The selected candidate will be required to work weekends during the growing season. Responsibilities: · Willingness to improve upon the preventative maintenance programs currently in place. · Communicate with Golf Course Superintendent daily to ensure proper setup of equipment and make management aware of all equipment failures. · Working knowledge of the equipment and be able to train the staff in safe and proper operation. · Responsible for checking mowers daily to ensure consistency and quality. · Qualified applicants must be able to diagnose and make repairs in the field. · Accountable for repair and sharpening of all reel and rotary equipment. · Responsible for ordering/receiving parts, tracking inventory, maintaining equipment repair records, use of computer software programs and staying within budget · Oversee and track delivery of fuel purchases. · Maintain a safe, organized and clean shop/work area and equipment storage areas. Experience Requirements: Working knowledge of turf equipment, daily setup, adjustments, grinding, repair and maintenance. Experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines. Ability to troubleshoot issues with electrical and hydraulic systems. Able to stay within monthly budgetary restraints. Will be directly responsible for assistant mechanic.
