    Golf Maintenance Specialist

    Overview- Great Parks of Hamilton County is accepting applications for Golf Maintenance Specialist for the Mill and Meadow Links Golf Courses at Winton Woods. Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks to grounds, landscape, equipment and facilities within golf courses. Job requires application of clearly prescribed practices or methods requiring the making of minor decisions and use of some judgment. May serve as lead worker on small projects or assignments. Employee proceeds alone on most tasks, referring questionable cases to supervisor. May require weekend and holiday work assignments as well as variable work shifts and on-call response to special events and weather related events or other emergencies. This position works year round, for up to 1,500 hours per year and requires evenings, weekends and holiday work with varying start and shift times. Job Skills / Requirements- Serves as a lead worker on small projects or assignments. May monitor work in progress performed by Technicians, provides direction, trains, resolves routine problems and ensures work is completed as directed and in conformance with quality standards. Reports work progress and related information to Manager on a regular basis. Performs various grounds maintenance tasks to golf courses. Applies fertilizer, seed and pesticides to turf areas. Clears brush and fells trees. Mows rights of way, rough areas, fairways, greens, and other golf course areas. Plants flowers, shrubs, and trees. Waters and fertilizes plants, prunes trees and shrubs, weeds flower beds, and performs other gardening tasks as required. Plows snow and ice from roadways, parking areas and walkways. Operates a variety of park and golf course equipment such as dump trucks, various types of mowers, snow plows, string trimmers, chain saws, shovels, and other gardening tools to perform maintenance tasks, and monitors systems performance. Performs minor plumbing, irrigation system, electrical, carpentry and building repairs to park facilities. Paints buildings and other structures. Performs maintenance duties including HVAC inspections, replacing furnace filters, inspects fire extinguishers and other routine maintenance duties; replaces signs, repairs fences, tables. Maintains records related to work performed. Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks of Hamilton County’s policies, procedures, and performance expectations. Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Performs minor mechanical repairs and performs routine preventive maintenance to small gasoline engines in tractors, mowers, pumps, trucksters, trucks, etc. Changes oil, lubricates moving parts, checks fluid levels, replaces belts, etc. Assists in the training of golf personnel. Ensures safe maintenance practices are followed. Performs routine repairs to cart paths by patching pot holes, etc. Picks up litter in golf courses and performs routine janitorial duties. Sweeps and mops floors, empties wastebaskets, cleans carpets and sanitizes and inspects restrooms and public areas. Performs other job duties as assigned. Utilizes and promotes environmentally sustainable practices and processes. EQUIPMENT OPERATED- Sprayer and other pesticide application equipment; dump truck; tractor; snow plow; lawn mower; weed whacker; chain saw; shovel; various gardening tools; screwdriver; circular saw; hammer; wrenches; power tools, snow blower; backpack blower; pressure washer; and other standard industry equipment. CONTACT WITH OTHERS- Great Park employees and volunteers; vendors, general public, and other job contacts. WORKING CONDITIONS- Frequent outdoor working conditions and occasional indoor work with exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and inclement weather conditions including heat, cold, rain and snow. USUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS- The employee frequently exhibits manual dexterity performing job duties, and occasionally talks and hears when working and interacting with job contacts. The employee frequently stands, walks, squats, and bends for extended periods of time, and frequently uses hands to hold and control tools.
