  1. The Club at Cordillera is pleased to announce an opening for Course Superintendent! We are seeking applicants with cool-season, Rocky Mountain region experience that are able to articulate the processes and practices utilized to open, maintain, and protect, and winterize a course with our challenges. More specifically we are seeking an individual that can accomplish the list of essential duties with excellence and in alignment with owner and member satisfaction goals. Reports to: Director of Agronomy, Senior Superintendent, or General Manager. Essential Duties: Aids the Director of Agronomy with preparing and maintaining the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans. Effectively plans, organizes, directs, and performs tasks related to the proactive minimization and mitigation of turf damage including but not limited to: o Elk Damage o Mechanical/machine damage o Vole damage o Desiccation (turf loss from drying out) o Ice damage o Snow Mold Safely operates and coordinates the use of dump trucks, snow removal equipment, snowcat, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations. Successfully plans and directs proper winterization of the golf course including fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, irrigation winterization, and chemical applications. Maintains a working knowledge of and provides recommendations on the agronomy programs associated with the management of the specific water, soil, and turf types of the course. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property. Patrols, repairs, measures, estimates, calculates, and records diversions of water from ditches and other delivery systems for use in computing reports as required by law.

Reports to: Director of Agronomy and Course Superintendent General Purpose: Assists at one or more of the courses at the Club at Cordillera and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards. Essential Duties: In the absence of the course lead, acts in that capacity. ● Safely operates the use of dump trucks, snow removal equipment, snowcat, and snowmobiles to remove, monitor, maintain, groom, and pack the facility during winter operations. ● Aids the course lead in the proper winterization of the golf course including fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, irrigation winterization, and chemical applications. ● Maintains a working knowledge of agronomy programs associated with the management of the specific water, soil, and turf types of the course. ● Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots components such as pressure relief and reduction valves, pumps, filtration equipment, pump motors/drives, and communication systems associated with the water delivery for the property. ● Measures, estimates, calculates, and records diversions of water from ditches and other delivery systems for use in computing reports as required by law. ● Patrols irrigation ditches by foot, motor vehicle, and ATV to detect leaks and weak areas, removes debris and makes repairs to ditch banks, structures, gates, ditch access roads, and paths. ● Repair and direct the repairs to broken water lines, heads, and valves. ● Ensures proper finish of sodding, drainage work, and various projects associated with course maintenance. ● Communicates with course lead, other key agronomy staff, and golf staff to discuss conditions of golf courses, maintenance plans and scheduled events. ● Ensures that maintenance equipment is properly maintained and safely operated. ● Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations. ● Obtains the proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns. ● Properly mixes, calibrates, and applies chemical/fertilizers used on the course. ● Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician. ● Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. ● Regular and reliable attendance. ● Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science). Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds. Environment/Noise: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate. Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License, Pesticide Application License Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
