White Grubs: Review of Preventive and Curative Controls

Dr. Pat Vittum of the University of Massachusetts will provide a review of various white grub species, preventive control methods and the latest in curative control strategies. Her presentation will include a review of species and distribution, including Japanese beetles, Oriental beetles, European chafers, masked chafers, Asiatic garden beetles and green June beetles; life cycle of each; behavior characteristics; tolerance levels. Preventive control options will include information on use of neonicitinoids and chlorantraniliprole. Curative control strategies will focus on cultural practices as well as chemical approaches, including use of neonicitinoids as a curative option, as well as a brief review of biological control strategies.
