Seasonal Intern

Lochmere Country Club has achieved a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest.  We have hosted the men's and women's State-Am as well as the Mid-Am. As a key member of Lochmere's maintenance team, the Assistant Superintendent will play an integral role in all aspects of golf course management.

Performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks involving the seasonal maintenance of a variety of areas including grounds, facilities and buildings.

Works under the direct and general supervision of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.

Educational Requirements

Knowledge of the principles and methods of turf and grounds maintenance.  Knowledge of the tools and materials used in the maintenance and construction of golf courses and landscaping

Experience Requirements

1.      Performs a variety of routine tasks for the maintenance, care and upkeep of grounds, buildings and facilities.  

 

2.      Mows, waters and repairs Turf; trims trees and shrubs, removes weeds as appropriate.

 

3.      Assists with projects including but not limited to, aeration, topdressing and bunker edging.

 

4.      May be trained on a variety of maintenance equipment and tools throughout employment.

 

5.      Inspects all areas of the Golf Course for safety issues. Reports all problems to the Superintendent or Assistant.

 

6.      Stays attentive to turf conditions and reports any turf stress or related turf issues to the Superintendent or Assistant

Special Requirements

Graduation from high school or technical school preferred and some grounds training.   Valid New Hampshire operator's license; one to two years extensive grounds maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Employee is often required to do several tasks expeditiously and concurrently.  Work is often interrupted by telephone call, inquiries from co-workers and customers.  Interactions with customers require courtesy and tact.

Equipment Use: Motorized equipment, including mowers, edgers, pruners, power sweeper, dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, loader, backhoe, tractor, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, mobile radio, phone.
