Assistant Superintendent

INNESS is seeking a highly motivated individual who takes pride in their work ethic and
shows a willingness to learn. The grounds department is looking to fill the Assistant Golf and
Grounds Superintendent position. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the
Superintendent and assist in the management of the golf course, resort grounds, and grounds
staff. We strive to display the best conditioned grounds and golf course for our membership and
guests on a daily basis.

INNESS is an intimate country refuge, and members club located in Accord, New
York. INNESS is situated on a campus of 225 pastoral acres, which include a 12-room
farmhouse hotel, 28 guest cabins, restaurant, event barn, a 9-hole golf course, sporting
outfitter, two swimming pools, tennis courts, walking trails, a retail home and farm shop.
The golf course is a 9 hole layout with massive undulating greens. Designed by King
Collins Golf. They are infamous for creating Sweetens Cove in Tennessee, arguably the
best 9 hole golf course in the country, by some. Greens are sand based A1/A4 Bentgrass.
Tees and fairways are native soil, grassed with Creeping Ryegrass/Low Mow Bluegrass.
Irrigation system is Toro two-wire, single row with ins and outs on greens.

This position is full time and will provide an excellent opportunity to learn to manage
turf through the summer stress experienced in the northeast. Assistants will gain
experience with Toro Irrigation, chemical applications and calibration, crew management,
disease identification as well as other aspects of golf course maintenance including
working closely with the Superintendent and providing input for the success of the golf
course. Assistants should adhere to professional appearance standards as member/ guest
interactions are quite common and encouraged. Our turfgrass management philosophies
rely on hard work and persistence, however, we strive for our team to have a positive
work-life balance and a vision for individual growth. Our Assistants are generally off before
4:00pm, even during the summer months. The position also provides multiple opportunities
to interact with additional Superintendents and Assistants throughout the Northeast and
industry professionals to build your professional network.
