Seasonal Intern
Medinah is unique, founded by the Shriners of Chicago in 1924 and originally designed by Tom Bendelow, Medinah boasts 3 distinct golf courses laid out over 550 acres and only 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. The Championship Course #3 has hosted a variety of major events and is currently preparing for the 2026 Presidents Cup. Course #3 is also finishing a Master Plan in 2024 with OCM Golf Course Architects https://www.ocm.golf/clients/medinah/. Interns will play an integral role in finishing the grow-in of the new Course #3 and its opening scheduled for July of 2024.
Turfgrass Interns will be an integral part of the Turf Team that employs 95 staff in mid-season and will be considered part of the management team as skills and abilities warrant. Our core beliefs revolve around Respect/Personal Responsibility/Individualism. Internships can vary from 3 - 9 months and develop into a full time position. A partial list of the opportunities Interns will be given:
- Completion and 'grow-in' of Course #3 with OCM Golf.
- Develop an Intern Goals and Objectives Plan tailored to each individual.
- Fertilizer/pesticide: calibration, application, inventory control, disease ID and an understanding of how, what and why these applications are used.
- Irrigation function and scheduling; water management that leads to firm conditions and turf health.
- How to organize and schedule an efficient team, daily and weekly.
- Coaching and mentoring on job performance and career track as desired.
- Flexible schedule that supports a life outside of turf.
- Work with an industry leading Equipment Technician Team.
Educational Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Turfgrass Management Program or similar field of study like Agronomy, Horticulture etc.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 1 year of prior golf course experience is preferred. Excellent work history; previous experience in application of pesticides and fertilizers preferred but not required.
