Assistant Superintendent
Help perform the implementation of an overall turf health program. This includes aeration, topdressing, and the application of pesticides, fertilizer, & chemicals to golf course turf
Directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course
Operates an assortment of golf course equipment, including but not limited to: mowers, utility vehicles, sweepers, brooms, rollers, rakes, utility vehicles, loaders, compressors, trenchers, automobiles, etc.
Communicates with the Head Golf Professional/Director of Golf Operations on issues related to golf course operations and maintenance
Helps train and lead grounds staff in the day-to-day duties of their jobs including preparing a schedule
Helps with purchasing, replenishing and inventory of materials, chemicals and supplies
Recommends purchasing equipment
Keeps accurate and complete records on expenditures, inventory, maintenance procedures, pesticide application, etc.
Reports to golf course general manager and/or board of directors
Lifts light and heavy objects and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity (desired)
Educational Requirements
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
VA Pesticide Certificate
Experience Requirements
At least one year of past golf course experience
